Galloway on the Dez No Speak List

My favorite Cowboy player, Dez Bryant, and favorite Sports Writer, Randy Galloway apparently don't speak to each other.  The No Speak List is Bryant's desire NOT to speak to Galloway due to some of the criticism spoken and written by Galloway in the past.  Which is fair, I would probably do the same.  Nonetheless, Galloway wrote a good article today about the new Dez and how great he is doing both on and off the field.  Article also touches on the Johnny Manziel/Dez Bryant/NCAA hypocrisy issue which continues to be a big story with the investigation into Johnny Football's signing escapades.  Click here to read another great story from Randy Galloway and Fort Worth Star Telegram:  http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/08/14/5081368/this-dez-bryant-has-left-troubled.html

As Sergeant Schultz would say... "I know NOTHING!"

If you haven't watched Jason Garrett's opening address to the team, then you should now...Here....
If you have watched it, you know what I mean, when I say Jason has these guys trained on how to navigate the media.  After being asked about his engagement to Hulk Hogan's daughter, Costa answered with:
“We just got engaged, but my focus right now is really on training camp and doing my best for the team.”
Great answer Phil.  I noticed the same type of constraint last night while watching the Michael Irvin interview with Dez Bryant on NFL Network.  Dez kept the answers simple and on point, paraphrasing for Dez..... "we're working hard to make the team better".

Keep it up Cowboys Players, you know the media is always out to paint the Cowboys in a negative light - that's both local and national media.

Dez Continues to Impress

I will try not to post something about Dez Bryant every day.  But the excitement continues to build around his prospects.  This is from Nick Eatman from dallascowboys.com.  Click here Cowboys Sunday Camp Highlights for other Sunday Camp highlights.

Play of The Day:

It was a good battle between Dez Bryant and Orlando Scandrick in the team drill period towards the end of practice. Bryant had already had a few nice grabs, but on a deep ball down the left sideline Scandrick appeared to be beat on the play, but found a way to catch up. The cornerback dove in at the last second to swat the pass away from Bryant, who appeared to have a long touchdown in sight. The deflection drew some big cheers from the crowd, who were anticipating another Bryant score.
However, Bryant got his revenge a few snaps later. Once again, Romo fired a deep ball down the sideline and although Scandrick was in better coverage this time, Bryant used his jumping ability to outfight him for the ball. Bryant hauled this one in for a score, giving the crowd a chance to erupt.

Romo Finally Has His Irvin

I'm glad Romo finally has a true superstar at Wide Receiver to throw to.
Aikman had Irvin, Staubach had Drew Pearson.
Romo's never had that, he's had a washed up T.O., free agent with no hamstrings Miles Austin, etc....
He's never had that bonafide superstar WR.

Part of an article from Bleacher Report by Peter Mazzarazo:
Dez Bryant had a monster year in 2012 and will be counted on to have the same type of impact in 2013. Throughout the OTA sessions and the minicamp there seemed to be the same recurring theme, and that was the play of Dez Bryant.
For Cowboy fans this is outstanding news, and for the NFC, maybe not so much. At times he has been simply unguardable, but the most important aspect of all is his maturation off the field. Bryant is simply a new man, and the fact that he has figured this out is downright scary.
He continues to shine in sessions whether it be catching deep balls, going up high and snatching the ball or simply taking in a slant and going the distance. Having Bryant play at such an elite level will continue to make this offense and its capabilities limitless.
Bryant simply is a bona fide superstar.

Dark Side of the Moon

Well, it's that time of year again that I like to refer to as the "Dark Side of the Moon"..... As in no communication for 4 - 5 long summer non-football weeks.  OTA's and Mini Camps are over and everyone is going their separate ways in the NFL world until training camps start back up in late July.
So everyone enjoy your family vacations, 4th of July celebrations and long, low scoring baseball games.  And Dez Bryant, please have a fun but non-eventful summary vacay.
But before we go, see a few good tidbits below.... some links to good stories.

  • Clairborne, while beaten constantly by Dez still looks good (Claiborne having to practice against Dez all of the time will be like swinging two bats on the on-deck circle.  By the time regular Joe Blow Wide Receivers come around like the Giants and Eagles, Mo will be all over them)....Claiborne - DMN

NFC East Cornerbacks.....Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid

Dez Bryant is putting it all together in this, his 4th season.
Take a look at the stats of the great wide receivers and notice how their production jumps in seasons 3 and 4.  Cornerbacks going against Dez this year will have their hands full.  Check out this story by Jean-Jacques:
